What the iceclimbing is??
Iceclimbing is a very young sport, as well as rockclimbing separated from mountaineering. The essence of iceclimbing is
ascension of vertical, and sometimes overhanging ice structures, which are often specially made for this purpose. Iceclimbing
technique is very similar to rockclimbing, but a little bit more rough, "physical", and in the same time - it is easier. Another
difference from rockclimbing is that the iceclimbing is more entertaining. Iceclimbing is more game than sport, -
in the iceclimbing there is always much more of unexpectedness, surprises. All iceclimbing competitions are usually very colorful
show - with music, crowd of the spectators, brightly dressed sportsmen. Together with a mountain ski, snowboard, iceclimbing beautifully
expand the list of winter recreations. Each season iceclimbing becomes more and more popular in Russia - people build
new gyms, for competitions come teams from many cities and countries.
The classical iceclimbing - climbing of the frozen waterfalls (cascades) differs very strongly from "urban" iceclimbing
on the artificial ice. Cascade climbing - one of the most beautiful sports, but it requires from the climber much more experience.
